Murmuring Wings

In the falling of night where I met you on your mouth...

Feathers

In the falling of night where
I met you on your mouth,
in the falling of night where
I met you on your neck -
your neck, vulnerable and telling;
your neck, where your being was transformed;
your neck, where you became another animal -
small birds of desire flew on your breath.
How their wet wings murmured
in the hollow beneath your skin.
How they came to life in their dark roost.
How their feathers fell slowly after
release: black and lustrous;
to become fountains of motion and light.
